Homesick
Written by: Ahava

To be home-sick is to desire to be with one’s family and in your own home when you are away from your personal location in life. To sacrifice is to separate and leave something behind of great value in your life to perform a service needed for the continuation of the quality of life that provided for the very ones you long for. You must remember, your sacrifice is your provision on behalf of those you dearly love.

You put a smile on your face, you keep an upbeat tone when they hear your voice on the phone, but your heart is heavy. Heavy heartedness is an enemy. It weighs you down. It is important to go before God and relieve the pressure upon you through prayer. Prayer is conversation with God.

When you talk to God you can be free to say everything you need to say. You don’t have to be careful of what you speak so you don’t hurt anyone or upset anyone. You don’t have to hide that you are lonely and home-sick because you want to be strong for the other person you are speaking with.

Conversation with God is an open avenue where you bear your soul fully and God removes the burden. It is a way to stay focused and be quick to keep in step with your training without having your emotions in the way.

We are not denying your emotions. We are giving them over to God to lighten your burden and allow you to be free of distractions of the heart.

Dear God,

You know what is inside of me.  You know the longing of my heart.  You know how much I miss my loved ones and the concern and worry I am experiencing by leaving them behind.

I need to be focused on my mission and be attentive to my duties with a clear mind in order that we keep in step with the mission at hand. Help me to get my emotions in line with my faith of knowing you are with me here and with my family at home.

Help me to have peace knowing you are with us all and will take care of all.

I pray in Jesus Name. Amen
