Allegiance to God and Country
The Original Pledge of Allegiance
I pledge allegiance to my Flag, and the Republic for which it stands, our nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. (Francis Bellamy, 1892)
At the first National Flag Conference in Washington, D.C., on June 14, 1923, a change was made for clarity; the words “the Flag of the United States” replaced the words “my flag”.
In 1942 Congress officially recognized the Pledge of Allegiance. In June of 1954 an amendment was made to add the words “under God.” President Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “In this way we are reaffirming the transcendence of religious faith in America’s heritage and future; in this way we shall constantly strengthen those spiritual weapons which forever will be our country’s most powerful resource in peace and war.”
The Pledge of Allegiance
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. And to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible. with liberty and justice for all.
Allegiance simply means loyalty. Loyalty is devoted attachment and affection.
Maintaining a steadfast commitment, holding onto our belief and support of our God and our country. A turning away from all other persuasion that is against the true foundation of our God established principles in which our country was founded.
As an American, I pledge allegiance to the flag of the Unites States of America.
As a Christian, I pledge allegiance to the Lamb of God, our Lord Jesus Christ.
The two cannot be divided. The two cannot be separated.
If you proclaim to be a true Christian living in America, proclaiming that you are an American citizen, then you must be in allegiance to the United States of America.
The Pledge Allegiance to the Lamb (song by Ray Boltz)
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb. With all my strength, with all I am.
I will seek to honor His commands. I pledge allegiance to the Lamb.
I have heard how Christians long ago, were brought before a tyrant’s throne. They were told that he would spare their lives, if they would renounce the Name of Christ.
But one by one they chose to die. The Son of God, they would not deny.
Like a great angelic choir sings, I can almost hear their voices ring.
Now the years have come and the years have gone, and the cause of Jesus still goes on. Now our time has come to count the cost, to reject this world – to embrace the Cross.
And one by one let us live our lives for the One who died to give us life.
Till the trumpet sounds on the final day let us proudly stand and boldly say.
To the Lamb of God who bore my pain, who took my place – who bore my shame
I will seek to honor His commands - I pledge allegiance to the Lamb.
